RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Emphasizes Proper Understanding of Religion to Prevent Misuse and Atrocities
Amravati (Maharashtra), December 23: Addressing the Mahanubhav Ashram Shatakpurti Samaroh, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the importance of correct interpretation and understanding of religion to prevent misuse and atrocities committed in its name.
Bhagwat expressed concern over atrocities stemming from the misinterpretation of religion, highlighting that half-knowledge and misunderstanding often result in ‘Adharma’.
“Improper and incomplete knowledge of religion leads to ‘Adharma.’ All the oppression and atrocities happening in the world in the name of religion have happened due to misunderstandings about religion. That is why it is required for different sects to work and explain their religion to their followers,” he stated.
In an earlier address at the Hindu Sewa Mahotsav in Pune, Bhagwat spoke about the significance of unity and harmony in society. While recognizing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a symbol of Hindu devotion, he cautioned against using religious sentiments to create divisions.
“There should be a Ram temple, and it indeed happened. That is a site for the devotion of Hindus. But raking up new issues every day for disdain and enmity should not be done,” Bhagwat said, urging people to focus on showcasing harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Bhagwat also elaborated on the core values of Sanatan Dharma, emphasizing the concept of ‘Sewa Dharma’ (the duty of service).
“Sewa transcends religious and social boundaries and is the true essence of Sanatan Dharma. Service should not be done for recognition but as a pure act of giving back to society,” he noted.
The RSS Chief urged different religious sects to actively educate their followers about their faith, ensuring accurate and meaningful interpretations to prevent misunderstandings.
The Hindu Sewa Mahotsav, organized by the Hindu Adhyatmik Sewa Sanstha, aims to promote social harmony, community service, and cultural unity, serving as a platform to reinforce these essential values.
As Bhagwat concluded his address, he reiterated the need for a collective societal effort to uphold peace, service, and harmony, paving the way for a more inclusive and understanding world.
