“Jehangir’s Room Targeted, Mumbai Police Launch Investigation Amid Security Concerns at High-Profile Residence”
January 17, 2025: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was the victim of a brutal attack at his Bandra West residence early Thursday morning, with the intruder reportedly demanding ₹1 crore in ransom. The attacker, armed with a knife, first entered the room of Mr. Khan’s four-year-old son, Jehangir, before being confronted by the household staff.

Details of the Incident
The horrifying event unfolded at around 2 am when Eliyama Phillipes, the nurse caring for Jehangir, noticed unusual activity in the house. Initially assuming it was Kareena Kapoor Khan checking on her son, she dismissed the noises, only to later find a man emerging from the bathroom. The attacker threatened her, demanding ₹1 crore, and injured her when she resisted.

Hearing her screams, Saif Ali Khan intervened, leading to a scuffle in which he was stabbed six times, including a deep wound to his thoracic spine. A piece of the knife broke off and lodged in his spinal cord, requiring emergency surgery. Doctors at Lilavati Hospital have since confirmed that the actor is in a stable condition.
The family’s maid, Geeta, was also injured in the altercation.
Police Investigation
CCTV footage shows the intruder, dressed in a t-shirt, jeans, and an orange scarf, entering the compound through an adjacent building. A case has been registered for robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous hurt. The suspect remains at large.
Security Concerns and Political Reactions
The incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of the security at the upscale building, home to high-profile residents. Criticism has also been directed at the Maharashtra government, with opposition leaders questioning the state of law and order in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi remarked, “If celebrities are not safe, who in Mumbai is?” Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has called the attack “unfortunate” but denied allegations of the city being unsafe.
The case has also garnered reactions from leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee, both calling for a deeper review of public safety measures in the state.
