Spiritual leaders plan symbolic rituals to strengthen moral message of ongoing sit-in

January 27, 2026: The sit-in protest led by Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand entered its tenth consecutive day on Monday, drawing growing attention from religious circles across the country. The prolonged demonstration has increasingly taken on a spiritual character, with organisers emphasising moral and cultural concerns rather than political confrontation.

In a strong display of solidarity, several prominent saints and spiritual leaders are set to participate in symbolic acts of protest today. Mahamandaleshwar Computer Baba is expected to join other saints in performing Hatha Yoga, a traditional practice symbolising discipline, endurance and spiritual determination. These acts are intended to underline the seriousness and resolve of the movement.

Outside the Shankaracharya’s camp, many saints will light sacred fires and perform Dhooni Tapasya, a ritual associated with ascetic penance and spiritual commitment. Organisers say the participation of multiple revered figures is likely to enhance the protest’s spiritual and social impact as it moves into a crucial phase.
