“AAP’s Revenue Claims Exposed, ₹2,000 Crore Lost,” Says Congress Leader
New Delhi [India], February 26: Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has called for an expanded investigation into the alleged liquor scam linked to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing the ruling party of massive financial mismanagement. Dikshit claimed that the Kejriwal government’s excise policy resulted in a ₹2,000 crore loss, funds that could have been used for public welfare.
“AAP’s claims of increasing revenue have been exposed. Delhi’s revenue has suffered a loss of ₹2,000 crores. This money could have helped the common people,” Dikshit said.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the liquor policy was tabled in the Delhi Assembly by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, triggering a heated debate among political parties.
Dikshit Questions AAP and BJP’s Involvement
Sandeep Dikshit further questioned the involvement of both AAP and BJP in the alleged scam. He claimed that the companies awarded contracts under the liquor policy donated funds to both parties, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
“The companies that got the contracts donated to both AAP and BJP. This should be investigated,” Dikshit asserted.
He also criticized the lack of discussion on the CAG report in the Assembly, calling for greater transparency and accountability.
Allegations Against the Lieutenant Governor and BJP
Raising more concerns, Dikshit questioned the role of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and BJP leaders in the liquor policy approval.
- “Why were three excise commissioners appointed at the time of the liquor policy?”
- “Why did the LG approve the liquor policy?”
- “Who allowed liquor shops to open in violation of the master plan?”
Dikshit further claimed that since the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was under BJP’s control at the time, such approvals could not have been granted without their knowledge.
Delhi Assembly Session Turns Chaotic
The Delhi Assembly session witnessed high drama, with opposition protests leading to the suspension of 21 MLAs till February 28. Speaker Vijender Gupta confirmed the suspension, stating that disruptions in the House had made proceedings impossible.
Speaking to the media, Gupta said:
“The first CAG report has been tabled today. We will try to present as many reports as possible in the session, which has now been extended till March 3.”
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will soon be formed, comprising 12 to 14 members from both ruling and opposition parties. The PAC will examine the findings, after which further action will be taken.
