The mishap occurred at a theme park along the East Coast Road when the popular ride, “Top Gun,” suddenly malfunctioned just as it reached its peak and began to rotate a full circle. A loud noise from one of the engines signaled the trouble that followed, filling the air with screams of the trapped riders.
District fire officer Loganathan said a mechanical fault was likely to blame for the ride getting stuck. About 35 personnel from the fire and rescue services department, along with local police, quickly arrived on the scene.

Initial rescue efforts using ladders proved unsuccessful, leading to a tense, over three-hour-long operation. Eventually, specialized sky lifts were deployed to safely bring down the stranded riders one by one.
One woman on the ride recounted how panic spread quickly among the riders, but it took nearly two hours for help to reach them. Another man, still visibly shaken, said he resorted to using his mobile phone and Instagram account to alert authorities.
All 30 riders were eventually brought down to safety, and no injuries were reported.
