"An inquiry has been initiated after parents allege that 80 Class 10 girls were forced to remove their shirts and sent home in blazers."

January 12, 2025: In a shocking incident in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district, the principal of a private school allegedly ordered 80 Class 10 students to remove their shirts after they wrote messages on them as part of a 'pen day' celebration. The incident occurred on Friday at a prestigious school in Digwadih under the Jorapokhar police station area, Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra confirmed.

According to complaints lodged by the parents, the students had completed their examination and were marking 'pen day' by writing messages on each other's shirts. The principal objected to the activity and allegedly forced the students to remove their shirts, even after they apologized.

Taking the complaints seriously, the district administration has formed a committee to investigate the matter. The committee includes the sub-divisional magistrate, district education officer, district social welfare officer, and the sub-divisional police officer.

Jharia MLA Ragini Singh accompanied the parents when they submitted their complaints to the DC. Describing the incident as "shameful and unfortunate," Singh called for strict action against the principal.

"The administration has assured us that a thorough inquiry will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the probe panel," Mishra added.

The investigation is ongoing, and action will be determined following the committee’s report.
