Congress MP says talks were positive, ‘all is good’ after key meeting
January 29, 2026: Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor met party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi at Parliament House on Thursday morning, holding discussions for around 90 minutes. The meeting took place against the backdrop of speculation about Tharoor’s position within the Congress, following remarks seen by some as appreciative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In recent weeks, political circles have been abuzz with rumours suggesting possible friction between Tharoor and the party leadership, including talk of a potential shift to the BJP. The meeting was therefore closely watched as an effort to address concerns and clarify his future role within the Congress.
Speaking to reporters after the interaction, Tharoor sought to put speculation to rest, describing the talks as “very good, constructive and positive.” He added that there was no discord, saying, “All is good, and we are moving together on the same page,” signalling alignment with the party leadership.
