Shikhar Dhawan Slams Shahid Afridi Over Insult to Indian Army: "Itna Gire Hue Ho..."
New Delhi, April 29, 2025 —
Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has delivered a scathing response to Shahid Afridi after the former Pakistan captain made derogatory remarks about the Indian Army, days after the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed 26 lives, including those of 25 Indian tourists.
Afridi had mocked India’s armed forces during a TV appearance, calling them “nalayak aur nikamme” (inefficient and useless) for allegedly failing to prevent the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir. His comments provoked sharp criticism across India.
Responding strongly on X (formerly Twitter), Shikhar Dhawan wrote:

“Kargil mein bhi haraya tha, already itna gire hue ho aur kitna giroge. Bewajah comments pass karne se acha hai apne desh ki taraqqi mai dimag lagao @SAfridiOfficial. Humein hamari Indian Army par bohot garv hai. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!”
(We defeated you in Kargil. You have already stooped so low — how much lower will you fall? Instead of making baseless comments, focus on developing your own country. We are extremely proud of our Indian Army. Bharat Mata Ki Jai! Jai Hind!)
Afridi had earlier mocked India’s security apparatus, saying:
“You have an 8 lakh-strong army in Kashmir and yet this happened. This shows inefficiency. Your media turned the attack into Bollywood drama within an hour.”
Afridi even claimed he “enjoyed” watching Indian news channels post the attack, calling Indian reactions “childish” and “uneducated.”
The strong reaction from Dhawan resonated widely across social media, with many Indian fans applauding his patriotism and standing up for the armed forces.
Meanwhile, in response to the Pahalgam tragedy, the Indian government has already imposed tough measures on Pakistan:
While diplomatic actions are underway, many voices in India are also calling for stronger responses against Pakistan following the terror attack.
