Shiv Sena Leader Manga Ram Shot Dead in Moga: Police Launch Investigation

“They Chased and Shot Him – We Will Ensure Justice,” Says Police


Moga (Punjab), March 14: Shiv Sena leader Manga Ram was shot dead in a firing incident in Punjab’s Moga on March 13. The attack, which also left a salon owner and a child injured, has sparked an intense investigation.

Moga Superintendent of Police (SP) Bal Krishan Singla confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on the statement of Manga Ram’s wife, and six accused have been named in the case.

📌 How the Attack Unfolded

According to SP Singla, the gunfire initially erupted inside a salon, injuring the owner. Following this, the assailants chased Manga Ram and opened fire on him near a stadium, leading to his death.

📢 “First, the firing took place in a salon, injuring one person. Then, they started chasing Manga Ram while firing. The shots were fired on the street near the stadium, killing Manga Ram. A total of 4-5 rounds were fired,” the SP said.

🚔 Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown on Crime

The Punjab Police has been actively cracking down on crime in recent months. In a major anti-gangster operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Faridkot Police recently arrested Manpreet Singh alias Manni, a key operative linked to gangster Gaurav alias Lucky Patyal and the Davinder Bambiha gang.

🔹 Manpreet Singh was involved in the murder of a man in Moga’s Village Kapura on February 19 and a firing incident at Raja Dhabha in Jagraon on February 26.

🔹 During his attempt to evade arrest, Manpreet opened fire at police officers, prompting retaliatory firing. He sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and is currently undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital.

🔹 Three individuals, including Manpreet and two of his accomplices, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The Punjab Police has intensified its probe into Manga Ram’s killing, ensuring that the culprits are swiftly brought to justice. Authorities are examining whether the attack was politically motivated or linked to gang rivalries.

As the investigation unfolds, the police have assured the public that such acts of violence will not be tolerated, and decisive action will be taken against those responsible.
