Shocking Matrimonial Fraud in Meerut: 22-Year-Old Man Tricked Into Marrying Bride’s 45-Year-Old Mother

Mohammad Azeem alleges ₹5 lakh was exchanged for marriage with a 21-year-old, only to discover during the ceremony he was wed to her mother instead.

In a bizarre case from Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old man has alleged that he was deceived into marrying the mother of his bride-to-be, a 45-year-old woman, during what he believed was a wedding to a 21-year-old woman named Mantasha.

The complainant, Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Brahmapuri in Meerut, claimed his wedding was arranged by his brother, Nadeem, and sister-in-law, Shaida, with a young woman from Shamli district. The ceremony took place on March 31.

Azeem said that everything seemed normal until the Maulvi referred to the bride as “Tahira” during the rituals. When he lifted the veil, he was shocked to find the woman under the veil was not Mantasha, but her widowed mother, Tahira, aged 45.

To make matters worse, Azeem alleged that a sum of ₹5 lakh was exchanged during the wedding ceremony. When he confronted the parties involved, Azeem claimed he was threatened with a false rape case by his own brother and sister-in-law if he exposed the fraud.

Azeem eventually filed a police complaint on April 18, detailing the deception.

However, CO Brahmapuri Saumya Asthana informed the media that a settlement has been reached between the involved parties and that Azeem has withdrawn his complaint, stating he no longer wishes to pursue legal action.

While the matter appears resolved legally, the case has ignited debate on marriage scams and intra-family betrayal, sparking outrage and disbelief across social media.
