Shocking! Teens Murder Best Friend Over Stolen Videos and Blackmail in Meerut

“Class 12 student confesses to killing his friend after allegations of blackmail involving private videos of his girlfriend.”

December 30, 2024: Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old teenager from Meerut has been taken into police custody for allegedly murdering his best friend Abhinav with a hammer. The gruesome crime stemmed from allegations that Abhinav had stolen private videos of the accused’s girlfriend and was using them to blackmail her.

The Background:

Both teenagers were students preparing for engineering entrance exams and attended the same coaching center, approximately 15 km from their homes. On Saturday, they left together for their coaching class, but Abhinav did not return home that evening.

When questioned, the accused initially denied any knowledge of Abhinav’s whereabouts. However, CCTV footage revealed that the two were last seen together. Under police interrogation, the accused eventually confessed to the premeditated murder.

The Crime:

The accused revealed that Abhinav had accessed private videos from his phone and had begun blackmailing his girlfriend, demanding that she spend time with him. After learning about this, the accused decided to take drastic action.

On the day of the incident, the duo went to a mobile shop to sell a phone for ₹8,000, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. On their way back, they stopped near a tubewell, where the accused suddenly pulled out a hammer from his bag and began attacking Abhinav. He confessed to hitting him repeatedly even after he fell to the ground.

Family’s Demands:

Abhinav’s family, devastated by the loss, has refused to cremate his body until justice is served. They suspect there may be more people involved in the crime and have urged the police for a thorough investigation.

“We want the truth. We must know if anyone else was part of this crime,” said Kuldeep, a relative of Abhinav.

Police Action:

Meerut City SP Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed that the accused has confessed to the crime and that the murder weapon, a hammer, has been recovered. The police are now examining CCTV footage to identify any other suspects.

“The accused, being a minor, will be produced in court as per the Juvenile Justice Act. We will ensure that the investigation is transparent and comprehensive,” said the SP.

The case has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting issues of digital privacy, teenage violence, and the misuse of personal data.
