Sisodia Questions PM Modi’s Silence On US-Iran War

AAP leader raises concerns over India’s energy security and response to rising tensions near its region

March 6, 2026: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday criticised the “silence” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran. Sisodia said the lack of a public response from the prime minister sends a “dangerous signal” at a time when global tensions are intensifying. In a post on X, he also questioned how the situation could impact India’s energy security and national interests.

Referring to India’s oil imports, Sisodia said the country depends heavily on foreign supplies and warned that restricting major sources could affect fuel availability and prices. He claimed that India’s reported agreement with the United States regarding reduced oil imports from Russia raises concerns about the country’s long-term energy strategy. According to him, decisions related to oil supply are closely tied to economic stability and crisis preparedness.

His remarks came after reports that a US submarine torpedoed an Iranian warship near the coast of Sri Lanka, escalating tensions in the region. Sisodia said the incident had effectively brought the conflict close to India’s neighbourhood and questioned why the prime minister had not commented publicly. Meanwhile, the Indian government has maintained that the crisis should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
