SSC Aspirants Protest At Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, Many Detained
Thousands of job aspirants gathered at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan to protest alleged irregularities in recent SSC examinations. The demonstration turned chaotic after the permitted time, with students claiming many were detained and accusing police of a lathicharge.
August 25, 2025: On Sunday, the national capital was tense as thousands of students and teachers protested at Ramlila Maidan under the banner of the Chatra Maha Andolan against what they said were unfair practices in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment tests. When the police showed up, things got out of hand, and demonstrators said they were “lathicharged.”
Delhi Police say that roughly 1,500 people came to protest, and about 100 of them stayed after the 5 p.m. deadline. A police officer indicated that 44 people were arrested, but they didn’t say they used force. But recordings that were released on social networking site X (now Twitter) showed students rushing away from the scene while police tried to clear the area.
People are utilizing the demonstration to indicate how unhappy they are over things that are still going on, such the SSC Selection Post Phase 13 exam that took place from July 24 to August 1. People who applied reported that the new exam provider, Eduquity Career Technologies, wasn’t ready because of a long list of problems, such as exams being canceled at the last minute, systems breaking down, and rural applicants being directed to the wrong centers.
S. Gopalakrishnan, the head of the SSC, said that there are “teething issues” and pledged to provide thousands of people who were affected fresh exams. But he has declared that he won’t cancel the whole test or get rid of the new vendor. This answer hasn’t calmed the protesters down. They want further changes to the system and for people to be held accountable.
Politicians have also noticed the disarray. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the head of Congress, claimed that the police’s actions were “inhumane and shameful” and demanded the government to rectify the problems with the tests.
