New Delhi, October 21, 2024: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, has announced his upcoming visit to the Vaishno Devi shrine, marking a spiritual journey after a turbulent year. On Monday, Kejriwal shared the news on social media, expressing his devotion and the purpose of the visit.
Taking to X, Kejriwal said, “Chalo bulawa aaya hai, Mata ne bulaya hai (Come on, we have been called; Mother (Goddess Vaishno Devi) has called us).” He further added, “May you and your family be happy and content. I am going to visit Mata Vaishno Devi with my wife to seek her blessings.”
Earlier this year, Kejriwal was embroiled in legal issues following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. After being granted bail by the Supreme Court, Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail last month. Since then, he has maintained a low profile, focusing on rebuilding his public image.
In a move that took many by surprise, the AAP leader announced his resignation from the position of Chief Minister shortly after his release. During a public address, he said, “I will not take the CM position until the public gives me a certificate of honesty by making AAP victorious again in the upcoming assembly elections.”
Following Kejriwal’s resignation, party leader and minister Atishi was appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The transition marked a significant change for AAP, with Atishi stepping up to lead the government while Kejriwal focused on strategic planning for the upcoming elections. The elections are scheduled for early next year, and the stakes are high as AAP aims to retain its stronghold in Delhi.
Over the weekend, Kejriwal addressed a large gathering of party workers at a marathon meeting in Pitampura, Delhi. During his speech, he emphasized the resilience of the AAP and its members, stating, “No party in India’s history has been harassed as much as AAP, yet we stand tall.” He praised the dedication of the party leaders and workers, urging them to intensify their efforts to win all 70 seats in the upcoming elections.
He further added, “The BJP is determined to dismantle the progress we have made under AAP’s governance. It’s time for us to unite and ensure that Delhi’s future remains in safe hands.” Kejriwal’s call to action was clear: to safeguard the progress and reforms initiated by the AAP government.
The meeting saw the participation of several senior AAP leaders, including former ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, who have been key figures in the party’s journey. Satyendar Jain, who was recently released on bail after being in jail for two years on allegations of money laundering, received a hero’s welcome at the event. The standing ovation and warm reception marked an emotional moment for him and the party members. Leaders such as Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Gopal Rai, and other state functionaries were also present, showcasing a unified front as they gear up for the political battle ahead.
Kejriwal’s announcement to visit the Vaishno Devi shrine symbolizes a moment of reflection and renewal. The spiritual journey, coming at a time when the party is preparing for a crucial electoral test, highlights his intent to seek divine blessings for strength and guidance.
The Aam Aadmi Party, under the new leadership of Atishi, is focusing on reconnecting with the voters, emphasizing their commitment to honest governance, public welfare, and inclusive growth. Kejriwal’s pilgrimage and the recent rally reflect a larger strategy to rejuvenate the party’s image and morale, rallying supporters around a shared vision of progress and stability for Delhi.
