Attempted Acid Attack on Kejriwal During Padyatra Sparks Political Outrage

New Delhi, November 30
: Security personnel of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal thwarted an alleged acid attack attempt on Saturday during his padyatra in Greater Kailash.

The suspect, who tried to throw a liquid at Kejriwal, was apprehended on the spot and reportedly subdued by the AAP leader’s security team. The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of political leaders amid increasing political tensions.

Political Allegations Against BJP

Reacting to the incident, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP of orchestrating attacks against Kejriwal, citing multiple past incidents.

“BJP leaders hold rallies across states and are never attacked. Yet, Kejriwal has faced attacks repeatedly–in Nangloi, Chhatarpur, and now Greater Kailash. Law and order in Delhi have collapsed, and the central government, along with the Home Minister, remains silent,” Bharadwaj alleged.

The AAP had previously accused BJP supporters of being behind an October rally incident where Kejriwal was allegedly attacked.

AAP’s Election Campaign and Rising Tensions

As AAP ramps up its election campaign, Kejriwal’s padyatras are a critical part of voter engagement ahead of the assembly elections. Party leaders are focusing on grassroots outreach, combining foot marches, committee formations, and conventions to strengthen their electoral strategy.

Rising Crime in Delhi Sparks Criticism

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal visited the family of a man who was stabbed to death in Panchsheel Park. Addressing the media, he criticized the central government’s handling of Delhi’s law and order situation.

“Senior citizens live in fear, extortion calls are rampant, and crime is out of control. Since Amit Shah became Home Minister, the situation has worsened significantly,” Kejriwal said.

On Friday, AAP MPs, including Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, and Sandeep Pathak, staged a protest in Parliament, citing the rising crime rate and targeting the central government for inaction.
