"BJP derives its identity from polling booth Senapatis, ground-level workers": Jyotiraditya Scindia in MP
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India]: Union Minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday said that the BJP derives its identity from polling booth Senapatis (incharges) and ground-level workers. He said he considers himself fortunate to have met them.
Scindia was addressing a meeting of BJP workers in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He said that the BJP is a party of workers and that it is the hard work of these workers that has helped the party achieve success.
Scindia said, “BJP derives its real identity from polling booth Senapati and its ground-level workers and I consider myself fortunate to have met them.”
He praised the leadership of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said, “In Madhya Pradesh, a line of development and growth has been drawn under the leadership of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and PM Modi.”
The BJP is the ruling party in Madhya Pradesh and is currently preparing for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to have assembly polls on November 17. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
The election would be conducted in one phase in the state and the counting would be done on December 3.
In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress won 114 seats with a vote share of 41.5 per cent while BJP got 109 seats with a vote share of 41.6 per cent.
The last state assembly polls saw the Congress coming to power, with veteran leader Kamal Nath taking oath as the chief minister.
Nonetheless, a political upheaval rocked the state in 2020, after the then Congressman Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with 22 loyalist MLAs, switched over to the saffron camp.
The Congress government fell after being reduced to a minority and the BJP formed the government, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan returning as chief minister.
