Clash Erupts Between Udaipur Royal Family Factions Outside City Palace
Udaipur (Rajasthan), November 26 – A violent clash broke out late Monday night between two factions of Udaipur’s royal family outside the City Palace, following a dispute over the entry of BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, who was recently crowned as the 77th Maharana of Mewar.
Supporters of Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, BJP MLA from Rajsamand, resorted to stone pelting after they were barred from entering the City Palace. The standoff escalated as Vishvaraj Singh, accompanied by his followers, camped outside the palace gates.
The confrontation involved Vishvaraj Singh, his cousin Dr. Lakshay Raj Singh Mewar, and their uncle Arvind Singh Mewar, who opposed Vishvaraj Singh’s entry into the palace. Reports suggest that tensions arose following Vishvaraj Singh’s coronation as Maharana of Mewar, sparking disagreements within the family.
The altercation reportedly began when Vishvaraj Singh and his supporters were stopped from entering the City Palace, a move that was met with outrage. Vishvaraj Singh’s followers attempted to force their way into the premises, prompting retaliatory actions from those inside the palace, allegedly aligned with Lakshay Raj and Arvind Singh.
Stone pelting ensued from both sides, turning the dispute into a full-blown confrontation.
The Mewar royal family, known for its rich history and legacy, has seen disputes arise on multiple occasions, often revolving around titles and inheritance. The current row stems from the coronation of Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, which appears to have intensified family rivalries.
Local authorities are yet to provide a comprehensive account of the incident. The situation remains tense, and more details are awaited regarding any injuries or damages caused during the clash.
