Extremely Heavy Rain To Lash Pune And Nearby Regions Today; IMD Issues Orange Alert

June 30, 2025: Brace for a wet week, Punekars! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune today, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the city and surrounding areas. Commuters are advised to expect disruptions due to waterlogging, traffic snarls, and reduced visibility, while residents in low-lying and flood-prone zones should stay cautious.

This marks the beginning of a rain-soaked week, as monsoon intensity picks up across Maharashtra. According to the IMD, the orange alert will remain in place until July 4, with a yellow alert likely to follow through the weekend.

  • No fishing activities from June 29 to July 4 across the Gujarat coast, north Arabian Sea, and central adjoining waters.
  • Konkan coast: Fishing should be avoided on June 29, July 2, and July 3.
  • North Konkan coast: Avoid fishing on June 30 and July 1.
  • Goa and Karnataka coasts: Fishing banned during the same dates due to high waves and potential squalls.
