Kerala High Court Declares KEAM 2025 Results Invalid
July 10, 2025: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday invalidated the results of the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) 2025 entrance examinations, citing procedural irregularities in the rank calculation method. The results had been announced earlier this month.
Justice D.K. Singh disposed of a petition filed by KEAM aspirants, including Hana Fatima Ahnus, who argued that the revised ranking method adopted for KEAM 2025 unfairly disadvantaged students from CBSE and ICSE boards. The court ruled that the changes to the prospectus, which governed the rank calculation, were made post-exam and termed this move “illegal.”
The petitioner highlighted that the prospectus was amended just an hour before the rank list publication, causing a significant drop in their ranks. For instance, Hana Fatima Ahnus’ rank fell to 4,209 under the new system, whereas a candidate with similar marks in 2024 was ranked 1,907. The petition accused the amendment of being “arbitrary, illegal, and malafide,” suggesting it was aimed at removing the previous weightage advantage for CBSE and ICSE students.
The High Court directed the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations to re-publish the rank list following the original prospectus issued in February 2025, which was based on expert committee recommendations from 2011.
In response, the Kerala State government filed an appeal against the High Court’s decision, with the case scheduled for a hearing on Thursday before a Division Bench.
This judgment has raised significant concerns among students and educators regarding transparency and fairness in entrance exam procedures in Kerala.
