Rains Wreak Havoc in Uttarakhand, Leaving 3 Dead

Heavy monsoon rains triggered landslides and caused a flood-like situation across the state prompting the Met department to issue an orange alert and forcing the closure of schools.

August 4, 2025: There have been heavy monsoon rains in many parts of Uttarakhand for a long period which have killed three people and made life very hard. The state is on high alert because rivers are overflowing and landslides are obstructing roads.

A creek that was overly full took away one person in Haldwani on Monday, killing them. On Sunday, two more people died in the same way. A landslide in Rudraprayag buried two stores overnight because it kept raining. This shows how much damage the rain has done to houses and businesses all around the state.

The Dehradun district government has closed schools and anganwadi centers for the day because things are getting worse. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange warning for the districts of Nainital, Champawat, and Bageshwar on Monday and Tuesday, saying that there would be very heavy to severe rain. On Tuesday, the notice would also cover Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, and Dehradun.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister, solved the matter by having a video call with the district magistrates. He told them to stay with their squads at “ground zero.” He underlined how important it is to plan ahead for flooding and check on any damage to crops right away.

The heavy rain has also produced a flood in the Udham Singh Nagar area, where the river is rising and damaging a number of villages and complexes.
