“This is not ordinary win,” says Piyush Goyal on counting trends and BJP’s current position

New Delhi [India]: Union Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking on the counting trends and the BJP’s current position, said on Sunday that the people have once again showered their blessings on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“On PM Modi’s guarantee, the people from the four states have once again given their blessings to PM Modi. If you look at it closely, this is not an ordinary win. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has received a historic lead. In Rajasthan, all trends were left behind and BJP won with an absolute majority. We were written off in Chhattisgarh but BJP registered a fabulous victory there,” said Piyush Goyal.

“In Telangana as well, the BJP won just one seat last time but going from one seat to double digits makes it clear that the faith of people in PM Modi is increasing day after day. People have understood that PM Modi does what he says,” he added.

On being asked about Congress’ allegations regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), the Union Minister said that it is unfortunate that Congress is so devoid of agenda and is identifying as bad losers once again.

“The political and election system of India is appreciated globally. Maybe Congress does not want the country to be appreciated, which is unfortunate but I think that all this (EVM tampering allegations) is a topic of mockery among people and nothing else,” Piyush Goyal said.

By crossing the halfway mark of 115, the Bhartiya Janata party is set for a second term in Madhya Pradesh, while it is heading towards comfortable victories in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, according to the latest trends from the Election Commission, while the Congress is poised to win Telangana for the first time in a shock for the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi which was in power in India’s youngest state for the past 10 years.

According to the latest trends from the Election Commission, BJP is leading in 168 of the 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 54 of the 90 seats in Chhattisgarh and 114 of the 199 seats in Rajasthan.

BJP is on its way to cement its vucra record in Madhya Pradesh again after having ruled the state for 18 of the past 20 years is an apparent indication of the party’s organisational hold in the state as well as the popularity of its schemes and leadership.

Rajasthan seems to have followed the over-three-decade-old trend of rotating governments and the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot appears to be on its way out.

BJP has bounced back strongly in Chhattisgarh, where the ruling Congress was supposed to have done well. A strong, sustained and aggressive campaign and its matching Congress in poll promises seem to worked for BJP.

The counting of votes in the four states, which went to the polls last month, started at 8 am on Sunday.
