
Stone-Pelting On Vande Bharat In UP
Window damaged on Lucknow–Meerut train; probe underway as Mohan Bhagwat reported onboard
February 20, 2026: A case of stone-pelting was reported on the Vande Bharat Express in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district while it was travelling from Lucknow to Meerut. According to initial reports, a windowpane of one coach was damaged in the incident. Sources indicated that Mohan Bhagwat, chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was onboard at the time, adding sensitivity to the matter. No injuries have been reported.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has formed a special team to investigate the incident. Officials are examining whether the stone-pelting was a deliberate act or the handiwork of miscreants along the railway track. Security has been tightened in the area following the episode.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting local intelligence inputs to identify those responsible. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, railway officials said.
