Surajkund Funfair Ride Collapse Video Surfaces
Inspector killed, safety lapses under scanner after Faridabad tragedy
February 8, 2026: A disturbing video from the Surajkund Funfair in Faridabad has surfaced, capturing the terrifying moments after a ride carrying 26 people collapsed. The footage shows the ride dangerously tilted, with one end hanging barely 2–3 feet above the ground while the other remained elevated. Moments later, the second end also crashed down, trapping several riders and causing multiple injuries, as panic spread across the fairground.
During the rescue operation, Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who was present at the site and actively assisting in evacuating victims, was struck by the collapsing structure and lost his life. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as fairgoers, shopkeepers, and police personnel worked frantically to pull injured people from beneath the wreckage. The video further highlights the absence of immediate safety mechanisms and emergency preparedness at the venue.
The incident has triggered serious questions over safety standards, ride certification, and administrative oversight at public fairs. Controversy erupted after the Haryana Tourism Minister remarked that divine intervention could have prevented the tragedy, drawing sharp criticism from various quarters. Authorities have assured that all injured victims are receiving proper medical care and confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to fix responsibility. The tragedy has renewed demands for strict enforcement of amusement ride safety regulations to avert such disasters in the future.
