In the forested tri-junction of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, India has launched its biggest-ever anti-Maoist operation, encircling the Maoist stronghold of Karregatta, Nadpalli, and Pujari Kanker with 10,000 elite commandos. Maoist strongholds are now under siege. Forces from Telangana’s Greyhounds, Chhattisgarh’s DRG, and Maharashtra’s C-60 commandos have created an impenetrable perimeter. Top Maoist leaders like Hidma, Damodar, Deva, and Vikas are believed to be trapped along with hundreds of cadres. Surveillance drones hum above as helicopters drop reinforcements.
