Telangana Alerts Public Over Toxic Kids Syrup
Almont Kid syrup found adulterated with ethylene glycol
January 10, 2026: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration on Saturday issued an urgent advisory asking the public to immediately stop using Almont Kid Syrup, a medicine commonly prescribed for allergies and asthma in children, after it was allegedly found adulterated with the toxic substance ethylene glycol.
The alert followed information received from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation East Zone Kolkata. A laboratory report declared the Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride and Montelukast Sodium Syrup adulterated, prompting authorities to warn parents and caregivers against further use of the product.
The affected syrup belongs to batch number AL 24002 and was manufactured by Tridus Remedies in Bihar. The DCA urged people to report possession of the syrup to the nearest Drugs Control Authority or through its toll free helpline without delay.
