
Telangana Factory Blast Kills 5, Injures Over a Dozen in Sangareddy District
Hyderabad, June 30, 2025 —
A massive explosion at a chemical manufacturing unit in Telangana’s Sangareddy district claimed at least five lives and left over 15 workers injured on Monday morning, according to police sources.

The tragic incident occurred at Sigachi Industries Pvt Ltd, located in the Pashamylaram Industrial Estate, around 10:30 AM. The blast led to the complete destruction of the industrial shed, while an adjacent structure suffered partial damage. The intensity of the explosion was such that several workers were reportedly thrown up to 100 meters away, eyewitnesses told authorities.
“Five of the injured succumbed to severe burn injuries,” a senior police officer confirmed. At least 11 fire tenders and police teams were dispatched immediately to douse the flames and initiate rescue operations. Several workers are still feared trapped under the rubble, and search operations are ongoing.
The explosion sparked widespread panic as thick smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, causing breathing difficulties among residents. Authorities began evacuating nearby buildings as a precautionary measure.
District Collector P. Pravinya and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj reached the site to oversee the ongoing operations and coordinate emergency response.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Sigachi Industries is known for producing pharmaceutical excipients and food-grade cellulose products.
