“Tell Modi What You Saw”: Pahalgam Terrorist Spares Woman, Kills Husband in Chilling Encounter

During the Kashmir terror attack that left one dead, survivor Pallavi recounts the moment a gunman spared her and her son, instructing them to inform Prime Minister Modi about the incident.

Pahalgam, Kashmir | April 23, 2025:
A harrowing terror attack in Pahalgam has left a Karnataka family shattered, with realtor Manjunath shot dead in front of his wife Pallavi and their 18-year-old son. The chilling aftermath has come to light through a first-hand account by Pallavi, who revealed that the attacker spared her life, instructing her to “go and tell Modi” about what happened.

“We were visiting Pahalgam when my husband was shot in the head. It happened right before my eyes. I couldn’t react. I was numb,” said Pallavi, who is a bank manager by profession, speaking to a Kannada media outlet over the phone.

She added, “My son hadn’t eaten all day. My husband went to get him some bread. Suddenly, we heard gunshots. We assumed it was the army, but then chaos erupted. I saw my husband lying in a pool of blood. He had been killed instantly.”

According to her, the gunmen — reportedly three to four in number — did not wear military uniforms and appeared to be targeting Hindu men specifically. “Many newlywed couples were there. Most of the men were shot, but the women were spared. Hindus were clearly being targeted,” she claimed.

Describing the moment of confrontation, Pallavi said, “I told the terrorist, ‘You’ve killed my husband, kill me too.’ My son also confronted him, saying, ‘You killed my father, kill us too.’ But the gunman said, ‘I won’t kill you. Go and tell Modi.’”

The trio had begun their Kashmir trip on April 19 and were scheduled to return to Shivamogga on April 24. Now, Pallavi insists she will return only with her husband’s body. “All three of us came here, and all three of us must go back together,” she said, urging authorities to arrange the airlift of Manjunath’s body.

Back in Shivamogga, the family is devastated. Manjunath’s elderly mother has not yet been informed of his death. She has only been told that he was injured.
