New Delhi [India]: At the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting under the leadership of BJP in Delhi, in a show of affection, Chirag Paswan, President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas Paswan) was hugged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Soon after the meeting, Chirag Paswan tweeted thanking the Prime Minister for his affection. “Honorable Prime Minister, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you for giving me love and respect by hugging me,” read a rough translation of his tweet in Hindi.
Speaking regarding the NDA meeting, Chirag Paswan said, “Today during the NDA meeting all leaders showed their enthusiasm and support to PM Modi. I and my party will strongly extend our support to PM Modi.”
Earlier there were reports that Chirag Paswan was not happy with the BJP for making his uncle a minister in the central government after a rebellion in his late father’s party LJP.
However, setting differences aside, Chirag Pawan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda in Delhi on Monday and then decided to join the NDA. It was then decided that Chirag Paswan would formally attend the NDA meeting.
Chirag’s uncle Pashupati Paras is currently the MP from Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in Bihar. While Chirag Paswan is preparing to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Hajipur constituency, his uncle is also preparing to contest from the same seat.
Interestingly, both Chirag and his uncle attended the NDA meeting on Tuesday. It remains to be seen to whom the BJP high command decides to give the ticket for the Hajipur constituency among the two in the forthcoming polls.
By hugging Chirag Paswan at Tuesday’s NDA meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to send a big political message to the voters of Bihar. However, both uncle Pashupati Paras and nephew Chirag Paswan are vying for the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat.
