Three Detained Inside Ram Janmabhoomi Complex
Security agencies question Kashmiri trio after prayer attempt at high-security Ayodhya site
January 10, 2026: Three individuals were taken into custody on Saturday morning after they entered the Ram Janmabhoomi premises in Ayodhya and attempted to offer prayers, prompting swift action by security personnel. The group, comprising two youths and a woman, gained entry through the D1 gate of the temple complex. Eyewitnesses said one of the youths sat near the temple kitchen and began praying, following which security staff immediately intervened and detained all three for questioning.
Security agencies are now verifying the identities and background of the trio, who were reportedly wearing Kashmiri attire. One of them has been identified as Abu Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, while the woman has been named Sofia. The identity of the third youth is yet to be confirmed. Eyewitnesses also claimed that slogans were raised when security personnel stopped them. Following the incident, intelligence agencies, local police, and senior administrative officials reached the spot. However, the district administration and the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust have not issued any official statement so far.
Security at the Ram Temple remains extremely tight, especially after the consecration of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, with the shrine witnessing an average daily footfall of around 1.5 lakh devotees. The Special Security Force, comprising PAC and police personnel, currently handles temple security with nearly 200 personnel deployed. Authorities have also announced plans to establish an NSG hub in Ayodhya, along with setting up an ₹11 crore integrated control centre within the complex to enhance coordination among police, CRPF, SSF, and intelligence agencies.
