Speaking to the press, Bhankrota Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Gupta said, “The fire has engulfed several trucks. The exact number of vehicles involved is still unclear. Some victims with burn injuries have been transported to hospitals by ambulance.”
Preliminary reports suggest the truck responsible for the collision was carrying a chemical, which likely contributed to the intensity of the fire. Firefighters and emergency services are working to bring the blaze under control.
Government Response
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma visited the hospital to meet the victims and assess the situation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the collision and subsequent fire.
Similar Incident in Nagaur
This tragedy comes on the heels of another fatal truck collision earlier this week in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district. In that incident, two truck drivers lost their lives after their vehicles caught fire, halting traffic on the highway until the blaze was extinguished.
The Ajmer Road incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and the transportation of hazardous materials.
