Trump Pledges Full Support to India in Wake of Pahalgam Terror Attack

US President, Secretary of State, and National Security Advisor express solidarity with India after terror strike on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir

Jeddah/New Delhi, April 23:
In a strong show of support following the terrorist attack on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, US President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and expressed his deepest condolences. Trump condemned the heinous act and offered full support to India in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The attack, which targeted tourists and claimed several lives in the scenic town of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, drew widespread condemnation from across the world, including top American officials.

🇮🇳🇺🇸 Trump: “India Has Our Full Support”

President Trump, in a message shared via Truth Social, wrote:

“Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi and the incredible people of India have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!”

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs also confirmed the telephonic conversation between the two leaders.

“President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.

🗣️ Global Condemnation and US Assurances

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs reiterated the United States’ position, calling for accountability.

Rubio stated on X:

“The United States stands with India.”

Meanwhile, the US State Department’s South Asia division condemned the attack and demanded justice:

“The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Nothing can justify such a heinous act killing tourists and civilians… We call for perpetrators to be held accountable.”

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz also shared his sentiments, calling the incident a “terrible tragedy”, and asked people to “join in prayer for the victims and their families.”

🛡️ India’s Swift Security Response

Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security meeting with intelligence and enforcement agencies in Srinagar. Shah later briefed Prime Minister Modi on the situation.

J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior Army officials, and J&K Police top brass were also present at the meeting.

Security forces have launched a massive combing operation in Baisaran and surrounding areas of Pahalgam, aimed at flushing out the attackers. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

📌 Context: Why It Matters

The Pahalgam attack is being viewed as a deliberate provocation ahead of upcoming elections and tourist season in the Kashmir Valley. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region, making US-India anti-terror cooperation more crucial than ever.

This robust backing from the US reinforces the deepening strategic partnership between Washington and New Delhi and highlights a shared commitment to combat terrorism on all fronts.
