Vadra calls ED summons ‘politically motivated’, says birthday charity paused due to government ‘pressure tactics’; vows to continue serving people

New Delhi, April 16: Businessman Robert Vadra, who was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Gurugram land case, asserted on Wednesday that he has “nothing to hide” and vowed to continue speaking against injustice, especially towards minorities, despite what he called attempts to “suppress” him.

“I’m here for any kind of unjust pressure. I believe in the truth, and truth will prevail,” Vadra posted on Facebook following his questioning.

“Birthday Seva Paused, But Will Resume”

In a veiled attack on the ruling BJP-led government, Vadra alleged that his charitable activities during his birthday week had been deliberately disrupted. He claimed plans to distribute food to the elderly and gifts for underprivileged children were paused due to the ED’s summons.

“My Birthday Week Seva has been paused for a few days… I will continue fulfilling people’s wishes and needs as soon as I get over the government’s ways of stopping me from doing good and speaking out against injustice,” he added.

Claims of Political Targeting and Misuse of Agencies

Speaking to reporters after his ED interrogation, Vadra reiterated that the investigation was politically motivated and accused the government of misusing federal agencies to suppress dissent.

“Whenever I speak for the people, they try to suppress me. It’s a political vendetta. I have nothing to hide,” he said.

He revealed that over 23,000 documents were submitted in 2019 in relation to the same case and questioned the purpose of revisiting a 20-year-old transaction.

“This case has nothing in it. They summon me only when they want to digress from real issues,” he said, expressing hope for a conclusion to the prolonged investigation.

Congress Workers Protest Outside ED Office

While Vadra was being questioned, Congress supporters staged a protest outside the ED office, chanting:

“Jab jab Modi darta hai, ED ko aage karta hai” (Whenever Modi gets scared, he pushes ED forward), accusing the Modi government of orchestrating politically driven probes to silence the opposition.

Sources confirmed that Vadra has been summoned again on April 16 for further questioning.

The case, which has lingered for years, continues to spark controversy amid allegations of selective targeting of opposition voices using investigative agencies.
