Vijay’s party calls BJP its ‘ideological enemy’, dismisses tie-up rumours
March 14, 2026: The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, has dismissed speculation about a possible electoral alliance with the National Democratic Alliance ahead of elections in Tamil Nadu. Party leaders said there is no possibility of a tie-up with the alliance led in the state by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
TVK Joint General Secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar described reports about negotiations with the NDA as “rumours” and said the party has already made its stand clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is its ideological opponent. He said a recent virtual meeting held on March 13 with district secretaries was aimed only at assessing the party’s strengths and possible alliance prospects, not discussing a pact with the NDA.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran avoided giving a direct answer on whether talks with TVK were underway. He told reporters that his focus was on public issues such as law and order and women’s safety in the state. Party sources said district secretaries informed TVK General Secretary N Anand that the party’s electoral prospects could improve if it contests with allies.
