Two JeM Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar Encounter

Operation Trashi-I launched in Chatroo sector after specific intel

February 22, 2026: Two terrorists linked to the Pakistan-based outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday. The gunfight broke out in the remote Chatroo belt after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Officials said the exchange of fire took place in difficult terrain, and weapons including two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site. Search operations are continuing to ensure no other terrorists are present in the area.

According to the Army, the terrorists were neutralised during ‘Operation Trashi-I’ in the general area of Passerkut in the Chatroo sector. The operation was conducted jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies following credible intelligence inputs.

The White Knight Corps said the mission was launched after coordinated inputs from Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Intelligence Bureau and the Army’s own sources. Officials described the operation as a significant success in ongoing counter-terror efforts in the region.
