Soon, Indians Travelling To UAE Will Be Able To Use Passport, Phone For Payments With UPI
July 10, 2025: UAE Passport – In a major development aimed at enhancing convenience for Indian travellers, Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India in Dubai, has announced that Indians may soon be able to travel to the UAE carrying only their passports and mobile phones, eliminating the need for physical cards or cash.
Speaking at a recent event, Sivan highlighted ongoing efforts between India and the UAE to facilitate digital transactions and identification, allowing seamless travel and financial access for Indian citizens in the Emirates.
The move is expected to boost tourism and ease of doing business, as travellers will potentially be able to make payments, access documents, and use identity verification systems entirely through digital platforms linked to their smartphones.
More details on the timeline and implementation process are awaited, but the initiative reflects the growing India-UAE digital cooperation and aligns with the Digital India campaign.
