Delhi Police arrest Uday Bhanu Chib after hours of questioning in protest case
February 24, 2026: Uday Bhanu Chib, president of the Indian Youth Congress, was arrested by Delhi Police on Monday after prolonged questioning in connection with a protest case. Chib had been summoned to Tilak Marg police station for interrogation, where he was questioned for several hours before being taken into custody. Police officials alleged that he possessed detailed information about the protest and may have played a key role in organising and planning the demonstration.
According to sources, investigators believe the blueprint of the protest was closely linked to the IYC president’s involvement. Police also claimed that during interrogation, Chib did not fully cooperate and allegedly denied knowledge of certain aspects or attempted to mislead officials in response to crucial questions. Authorities said they gathered what they described as sufficient evidence before proceeding with the arrest.
Chib is expected to be produced before a court, where police will outline their case regarding his alleged role. Officials are likely to seek custodial remand for further questioning as the investigation into the protest continues.
