UK Denies Visa to UP Dy CM Maurya
Deputy CM holds virtual investor meetings from Germany after setback
February 2026: A significant development has surfaced as Keshav Prasad Maurya was reportedly denied a visa by the United Kingdom during his official overseas visit. Despite securing the required No Objection Certificate from the Government of India, the visa was not granted, with the exact reasons yet to be clarified. Maurya had departed from Lucknow along with a delegation, including state minister Sunil Sharma and senior officials, for scheduled visits to Germany and the UK.
During his stay in Germany, Maurya met industrialists and investors to promote investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh. In the absence of travel clearance to the UK, he conducted virtual meetings with British investors he was slated to meet in person. Reports suggest that investment proposals worth over ₹100 crore were discussed and received positively.
Maurya is now expected to return to Lucknow following the conclusion of his Germany engagements. Further clarification regarding the UK visa denial is awaited, even as the outreach to foreign investors continues to be projected as part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader investment drive.
