The bride’s family reported the incident to the Industrial Nagar police post on December 23 and later escalated it to Superintendent of Police Aditya Laghe. They claimed a financial loss of ₹7 lakh, which included the costs of wedding arrangements and ₹1.5 lakh handed over to the groom’s family before the ceremony.
In response, both parties were summoned by the police. After discussions, an agreement was reached, and the groom’s family agreed to refund ₹1.61 lakh to the bride’s family.
“A written agreement was signed by both parties, and ₹1.61 lakh will be returned to the bride’s family,” said Circle Officer Rajesh Rai.
This incident has sparked widespread debate and outrage, with many questioning the lack of accountability and financial burden placed on the bride’s family.
