UP Heat Rises After Holi

Dry weather pushes temperatures above normal as no rain is expected across the state

March 5, 2026: Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a steady rise in temperatures as dry weather conditions continue across the state. Around Holi, several districts recorded temperatures above 30°C, signalling the early onset of summer-like heat. The India Meteorological Department has forecast clear skies for the next three to four days, which could allow daytime temperatures to rise further. Dry weather is expected to prevail across all 75 districts, with surface winds likely to blow at speeds of 25–35 km per hour before gradually weakening after March 6.

In the state capital Lucknow, the day began with clear skies and bright sunshine, conditions that are expected to push the maximum temperature to around 32°C while the minimum may remain near 16°C. Meanwhile, cities in the National Capital Region such as Noida and Ghaziabad have reported warmer nights, with minimum temperatures touching nearly 20°C.

Among districts, Banda recorded the highest temperature at around 35°C, about 3.4°C above normal. Other places including Jhansi, Agra, Hamirpur and Varanasi also reported temperatures between 32°C and 34°C. Meteorologists warn that the mercury could climb to 35–36°C in several areas by March 7–8, with a possible rise to 36–37°C in the following week, as a new Western Disturbance is expected to affect only the Himalayan region and bring little relief to the plains.
