Married against her will, 22-year-old Pragati Yadav plotted her husband’s murder with her longtime lover, Anurag Yadav; three arrested, more suspects on the run.
March 25, 2025: Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh — In a chilling case of love turning lethal, a 22-year-old woman and her lover allegedly hired a contract killer to murder her husband just two weeks after their wedding. The shocking incident took place in the Sahar region of Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district.

The accused, Pragati Yadav and Anurag Yadav, had reportedly been in a relationship for over four years. However, due to family opposition, Pragati was forcibly married to Dilip, a 25-year-old man, on March 5.
Unable to stay apart, the couple allegedly conspired to eliminate Dilip and continue their relationship. Police revealed that they paid ₹2 lakh to a contract killer, Ramaji Chaudhary, to carry out the murder.
Gruesome Murder in the Fields
On March 19, Dilip was lured to a field by Ramaji and his accomplices on the pretext of a meeting. There, he was brutally assaulted and shot. Though initially rushed to a community health center and later transferred to hospitals in Saifai and Gwalior, he succumbed to his injuries on March 21.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Sahar Police launched an investigation and traced the accused through CCTV footage.
Arrests and Seizures
All three prime accused — Pragati, Anurag, and Ramaji — have been arrested. Police also recovered:
- 2 pistols
- 4 live cartridges
- 1 motorcycle
- 2 mobile phones
- 1 purse
- Aadhar card
- ₹3,000 cash
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are on the lookout for other suspects who are believed to have aided in the crime.
