⚠️ IMD’s Red Alert & Safety Advisory

The IMD has issued a red alert for Delhi and its surroundings, warning that storms may cause damage to power and communication lines due to uprooted trees and broken branches.

Hailstorms, which have already occurred in parts of NCR, could damage crops and injure people or animals caught in open spaces.

👉 Residents are advised to:

  • Stay indoors and avoid travel
  • Keep windows and doors shut
  • Unplug electronic appliances
  • Avoid sheltering under trees or near metal poles
  • Exit water bodies immediately
  • Avoid lying on concrete floors or touching concrete walls

🛫 Delhi Airport Issues Advisory

Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport have been impacted due to thunderstorms.

“Due to inclement weather conditions and thunderstorms in Delhi, some flights have been impacted… Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information,” said DIAL in an official update on X (formerly Twitter).

Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo also issued separate advisories urging passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

🔮 What’s Ahead?

The IMD predicts continued rainfall and thunderstorms throughout Friday and Saturday, with gusty winds expected to persist. The maximum temperature will likely remain below 40°C, offering some respite from the recent heatwave.

However, officials are on alert for further weather-related disruptions, and citizens are urged to remain vigilant.
