
Watch: Passengers Occupy Train Engine Amid Mahakumbh Travel Chaos
February 10, 2025: The Mahakumbh Mela 2025 has brought millions of devotees to Varanasi, causing an unprecedented strain on the city’s transportation infrastructure. In a dramatic incident highlighting the chaos, passengers were seen occupying the locomotive cabin of a train at Varanasi Cantt railway station.
A viral video captured travelers treating the engine cabin as an ordinary coach, oblivious to the safety risks. They even locked the door from inside, prompting swift action from railway personnel. Around 20 men and women were removed from the engine, and authorities provided them alternative seating in other compartments.

The Mahakumbh has led to a massive surge in demand for train travel, overwhelming Varanasi’s railway system. Thousands of passengers are reportedly struggling to find seats, resulting in overcrowding and heightened safety risks.
