
Weather Update, July 2: IMD Issues Orange Alert for Shimla, Pune, East UP; Cloudy Skies for Delhi NCR
July 2, 2025 | The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for July 2 across multiple regions including East and West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and East Rajasthan, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.

The Shimla regional Met office forecasts continued rainfall with landslides reported in parts of Himachal. An orange alert has been issued for Mandi, Kangra, and Hamirpur, while Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, and Bilaspur are under yellow alert.
IMD has also cautioned about surface run-off and inundation risks due to saturated soil and continuous rainfall. Light to moderate showers are expected throughout the state on July 2, 3, 6, and 7, and at several locations on July 4 and 5.

For the Delhi-NCR region, no weather alert has been issued. The capital will remain generally cloudy with light to very light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
In Maharashtra, the IMD has raised an orange alert in Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur, while Raigad, Nashik, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Chandrapur and others are on yellow alert.
The Mumbai Met Department predicts moderate to heavy rainfall with generally cloudy skies across Mumbai and its suburbs.
The Chandigarh Met office has sounded a yellow alert in districts like Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Patiala for heavy rain with thunderstorm and lightning.
In Haryana, a yellow alert is in place for Karnal, Rohtak, Yamuna Nagar, Jind, while Ambala is under an orange alert.
Besides the above states, East Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Odisha, and Uttarakhand are also forecast to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 2.
While the north and west brace for rain, hot and humid weather is expected at isolated places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Travelers, residents in hill stations, and low-lying urban areas are advised to remain alert and follow IMD advisories as rainfall may lead to flooding, traffic disruptions, and landslides.
