Weather Update: Light Rain Lashes Delhi-NCR; ‘Yellow Alert’ For Kolkata
July 14, 2025: Weather Update – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a widespread alert forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of the country between July 14 and July 19, warning residents to brace for potentially disruptive weather.
Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed evening showers on Sunday, providing relief from intense humidity. The IMD issued a red alert for Delhi, forecasting moderate rain and thunderstorms through Monday, with temperatures expected to range between 26°C and 33°C. A cloud mass from the southeast is expected to further influence rainfall in the region.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Alipore has issued a yellow alert for Kolkata and South Bengal on Monday, warning of isolated heavy rain due to an active monsoon trough and a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
Rain will continue across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh through the week. Very heavy rain is likely in Meghalaya on July 15.
Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to stay indoors during heavy rain, avoid flood-prone zones, and monitor official weather updates regularly. Authorities may issue local warnings as the monsoon system intensifies.
