
Western Railway Introduces 98 Special Trains for Maha Kumbh 2025
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 10: In preparation for the Maha Kumbh 2025, Western Railway has launched 98 special trains to ensure smooth and safe travel for the expected influx of devotees. Ajay Solanki, PRO of Ahmedabad Division Railway, announced the measures taken to prioritize passenger convenience, hygiene, and security during the grand spiritual event.
“For the convenience of passengers, Western Railway is running Kumbh special trains, clearly identified through flex painting. Hygiene, the working of electric appliances, and overall passenger comfort are being prioritized. RPF teams have been deployed at stations for guidance and security. To date, 98 special trains have been introduced,” Solanki said.
The Indian Railways has rolled out a robust plan to handle the unprecedented rush of pilgrims. Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity at the Railway Board, highlighted that:
Celebrated every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh draws millions of devotees to Prayagraj, where they gather at the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Taking a holy dip during the event is believed to absolve sins and grant moksha (liberation).
This year, over 45 crore devotees are expected to attend the event, making it one of the largest gatherings in the world.
