Why Chaitra Navratri 2025 Has Only 8 Days: The Rare Tithi Overlap Explained
Chaitra Navratri, typically celebrated over nine sacred days, will be observed for only eight days in 2025. The reason? A rare Tithi overlap as per the Hindu lunar calendar.
In 2025, Chaitra Shukla Saptami and Ashtami tithis both fall on the same day — Saturday, April 5. As a result, Ashtami and Navami will be marked on consecutive days, effectively compressing the Navratri observance into eight days instead of the traditional nine.
This kind of overlap is uncommon but astrologically valid, and is adjusted in the Hindu Panchang accordingly.
