Why question Rahul when PM Modi flies more: Priyanka Gandhi Hits Back at BJP

Slamming the BJP for mocking Rahul Gandhi’s Germany trip as ‘tourism,’ the Congress leader questioned why PM Modi’s extensive overseas travel is never scrutinized.

December 11, 2025: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has fiercely defended her brother and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi against criticism from the BJP regarding his upcoming trip to Germany.

Hitting back at the ruling party for questioning Gandhi’s absence during the ongoing Parliament session, Priyanka Gandhi asked why the same scrutiny wasn’t applied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who she claimed spends “almost half of his working time outside the country.”

Rahul Gandhi’s Germany Visit

According to the Indian Overseas Congress, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Germany from December 15 to 20. During this trip, he is slated to engage with the Indian diaspora and hold meetings with German ministers.

The trip drew immediate fire from the BJP, which took a swipe at Gandhi for traveling while the Parliament session is scheduled until December 19.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla posted a sarcastic attack on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“Once again Videsh Nayak is doing what he does best! Going for a foreign tour! Parliament is on till 19th Dec but Reports suggest Rahul Gandhi to visit Germany from Dec 15-20! Rahul is LoP — leader of paryatan (tourism).”

Priyanka Vadra Demands Accountability

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra quickly mounted a strong counter-attack, demanding accountability from the BJP for its selective criticism. Her defense shifts the focus back onto Prime Minister Modi’s extensive international travel schedule during his tenure, effectively questioning the double standards of the ruling party.

This political skirmish highlights the intense personal and professional rivalry between the Congress leadership and the BJP, with the latter frequently targeting Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visits, terming them “political tourism.”

The exchange ensures that Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming engagement in Germany will remain a point of domestic political debate, despite its official purpose being to strengthen ties with the diaspora and German officials.
