Yogi Adityanath govt says workers in Israel are safe, in constant touch with Indian Embassy
April 5, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government has said that over 6,000 workers from the state currently in Israel are safe despite the ongoing conflict. The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the government, under Yogi Adityanath, is in constant contact with the workers and monitoring the situation closely. Officials added that there has been no specific demand from workers to return to India, indicating that most are choosing to stay for now.
The assurance comes shortly after the safe return of an Ambedkar Nagar resident who was stranded in Israel. Acting on directions from the Chief Minister, senior officials, including Labour and Employment Principal Secretary Dr Shanmuga Sundaram, are coordinating regularly with the Indian Embassy to track developments. The government has also said that arrangements are being prepared to facilitate evacuation if required.
In a recent rescue operation, a worker identified as Akhilesh Kumar was brought back to India after his family sought help. The state government coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian missions in Israel and Jordan to ensure his safe return via Amman. Kumar, who had been under severe stress, thanked authorities after reuniting with his family, calling it one of the most difficult phases of his life.
