Youth Key to Viksit Bharat: Pramod Sawant
Goa CM urges young Indians to join politics, backs merit-based leadership
January 20, 2026: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday called upon young Indians to actively participate in politics, asserting that the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) can only be realised through the energy and commitment of the youth. Speaking at the ABP Network India@2047 Youth Conclave, the BJP leader said nation-building requires sustained effort and patience, not the pursuit of quick rewards. Describing public service as a “marathon, not a 100-metre race,” Sawant urged young people to remain consistent and dedicated in their work.
Emphasising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India, Sawant said the responsibility of fulfilling it rests primarily with the younger generation. Drawing from his own political journey, he said opportunities come through long-term involvement and grassroots work. He reiterated that leadership is shaped over time and that perseverance is essential for those who wish to contribute meaningfully to their state and the country.
Rejecting allegations of dynastic politics within the BJP, Sawant said the party rewards merit and performance rather than family connections. He said his rise in the party came through organisational and social work, beginning at the youth level. Addressing employment concerns, Sawant urged young people to look beyond government jobs and explore self-employment and leadership roles across sectors, stressing that hard work and initiative are crucial as India moves towards 2047.
