Chandigarh, October 21, 2024: Just days after the new government took oath, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has retained crucial portfolios, including Home, Finance, and Excise, as the cabinet portfolios were assigned to the Council of Ministers on Sunday.
Chief Minister Saini will oversee important departments such as Home, Finance, Excise & Taxation, Planning, Town & Country Planning, and Urban Estates. He will also manage Information, Public Relations, Law and Legislative, Housing for All, Personnel & Training, and Criminal Investigation (C.I.D), among others.
Meanwhile, Minister Anil Vij has been given charge of Energy, Transport, and Labour, while Shruti Choudhry will handle Women & Child Development and Irrigation & Water Resources.
Saini was sworn in for a second term under the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, with the ceremony taking place at Dussehra Ground, Panchkula. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath of office to Saini and his council of ministers.
Following the swearing-in, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to the state’s development. “Taking a vow to tirelessly serve the 2.80 crore family members of Haryana, I have assumed charge as the Chief Servant of the state. We will leave no stone unturned in making Haryana the best, prosperous, and self-reliant state. Our government will be dedicated to service, good governance, equality, prosperity, and welfare of the poor,” Saini wrote on X.
The BJP has now formed its third consecutive government in Haryana after securing 48 out of 90 seats in the recent assembly elections, while the Congress managed to win 37 seats.
